I merely told her with engaging simplicity that 'the art of life
was the avoidance of the unattainable' - Saki

In the fall of 1989, I started my Bachelors degree program in Chemical Engineering at the Indian
Institute of Technology, Madras. After 4 years of hostel life punctuated
with lending notes, 'putting fundaes' the night before exams, dabbling
at six-a-side soccer and ultimate frisbee and umpteen latenight trips to
Tarams tea shop, there I was with a B Tech mostly because my teachers worked
hard. I also earned the title 'The Official Notestaker' of the class. |
As if a four years' stint at studying Cheme were not enough,
I proceeded to master the topic by enrolling at the Ohio
State University's masters degree program in the department of Chemical
Engineering in fall 1993. The cold weather and my first winter were
really great experiences. As I took classes and researched in the area
of polymers, I was drawn to manufacturing and I prepared to take an interdisciplinary
program in Manufacturing Systems Engineering offered by the Engineering
Research Center for Net Shape Manufacturing (ERCNSM) at the OSU. I graduated
in summer of 1995 |

Then, I joined the Semiconductor
Products Sector of Motorola. I worked in product and technology development areas for 32 months in Phoenix, AZ. I then moved to Austin, TX to work in an operational role in a wafer Fab. |
 |
As part of my dual degree program at MIT, I spent 6.5 months on an internship with Dell Computer Corporation in Austin, TX. I worked on identifying and designing a collaborative decision support system for managing a high volume computer assembly facility in Austin. |
